First, I want to share this because I've done this so many times. I try not to use too many boxed foods but I can't break my family of their Mac & Cheese habit so...
Also, I have a goal of starting potty training today. Being that I am writing this a week and a half after the fact, I can give you a spoiler- it doesn't work out. But here's a cute picture of Liam in his underwear:
My parents came to Maryland this morning- they left early and got here around lunch time. They were hoping to come one of the last two weekends when Zachary was gone but the first weekend, they had a Garth Brooks concert to go to- totally valid excuse. And the second one, also valid, there was a death in the family and the funeral was that weekend. So this Easter weekend it is! Our first activity of the weekend was an Easter Egg hunt. This isn't the most exciting video but I'll share it anyway because it features an iPad being dropped a full flight of stairs and Malia throwing an egg in Liam's basket.
So we have these child safety things on Liam's dresser. They're supposed to keep him from being able to open the drawers but they allow him just enough space to be able to take out about half the clothes in each drawer. Today, he worked on his top drawer which mostly holds socks but also has this bow tie that we got him around his second Christmas. We haven't looked at it since but he insisted on wearing it today. He went to the CDC today and I didn't have the energy to attempt to take it off so he sported it all day.
Today is Tuesday, meaning I'm on my own all day and night so after I got the kids down, I saw this and laughed out loud:
This is the only picture I have from Zachary's birthday. It was the day before we left for NC for a week. And that's really all I remember. Sad. I can talk about the birthday gifts I got him. I gave them to him a few days before his birthday because we are incapable of waiting until the day they are supposed to be given. I had five paper bags- one for each of the five senses and had quotes on the bags about the individual sense and gifts that appealed to that certain sense. For sight, I had a shadowbox showcasing mementos from this OBX marathon. For smell, I had some scented beads and a car air freshener. For hearing, I had John Legend's latest CD as well as Garth Brooks' first CD since 2001. One of the things Zachary and I bonded over in the beginning of our relationship was our mutual love for Garth Brooks' music. For touch I found a massage oil from the Bath & Body Works section at the exchange and I got a Toms scarf from Target. I wasn't sure if he would embrace the scarf but I thought for when it gets really cold, it'll be a nice thing to have.
