September 20 = Dentist Day

Looking back I'm impressed that I survived this day.

The day started with Liam insisting on walking backwards everywhere.  Like everywhere.  To the bathroom, down the stairs, to the door, to the car... everywhere.  So everything took five times longer than it usually does- which is already quite a bit of time.

We had to go to the dentist.  For future reference- next time you schedule a dentist appointment, take one at a time and arrange childcare for the other.  This was a nightmare.

But we made it.  And when we got home, Rosie had a box waiting for her- yay!

Look at this adoring face... they have such an awesome relationship already!

November 29 = Dentist Day

I had got to take the kids to dentist today by myself.  Note to self: don't ever do that again.  I only got two pictures because it was a nightmare.  Malia enjoyed playing with this... whatever animal this is, and its toothbrush and that was the highlight of the trip.

I was rewarded for my rough morning by getting to go to a Moms' Night Out with my MOPS group tonight- we went to Muse Paint Bar.  Part of the evening is getting to drink wine while you paint but since that isn't an option for me, my complimentary drink was a sprite- pretty good!

Here's the progression of my painting:

No clue what I'm going to do with it but I like it!

May 24 = Dentist Day

The kids both had dentist appointments this morning! At the time I made these back to back appointments, it seemed like a great idea.  Note to self: it is not a good idea.  We had to entertain ourselves for 30 minutes past our appointment time and that was no small feat.

Thirty minutes doesn't seem that long.  If the kids took a 30 minute nap, that wouldn't be long.  But while in a waiting room, 30 minutes takes forever.  But we made it.  Liam went first and got his first actual cleaning.  He hated it.  Then Malia went and they counted her teeth and told me again that the enormous gap between her top two teeth is fine...

Later, we went to a graduation party for some of Zachary's midshipmen- it was downtown and here's Zachary and his little girl:

Also I saw this today and had to share... so true.

November 18 = Dentist Day

One thing I want to make sure I do as a parent is teach my children the importance of taking care of their teeth.  We get a practice run with the baby teeth but once those permanent teeth come in- that's it!  I've worn through most of my enamel from drinking sugary drinks and lots of citrus fruits- I had one dentist saying most people in their seventies have more enamel than I do.  So this was Liam's second trip to the dentist.  There's not much they do right now- they count teeth- he's got four molars to go- and just look at the overall health of his mouth.  Sometimes they do find tooth decay in kids this young so it's good to get it checked out to make sure you're on the right track- which we are!  I love this dentist- Dr. Maya Vernon.  Being a pediatric dentist's office, the waiting room was very Liam friendly- he found this easel to draw on.

After we finished there, we went to the exchange and got some winter clothes- a coat for Liam and a hat for Malia.  His coat pictured above is super cute but for when it's really cold, it'll be good for him to have a good winter coat.  We've got Malia covered with clothes from one of Zachary's classmates whose daughter had lots of good winter clothes but we wanted to get her a knitted hat to keep her extra toasty.  Meet Malia the mouse:
