Monday is CDC day! I took Liam this morning and then took Malia to Babies in Bloom at the library. A girl sitting near her had an identical doll to one Malia has so obviously, she thought it was hers and didn't like that I didn't let her play with it. That resulted in us having to leave the room but I found some cool magazines and we got home a little earlier than we had planned which allowed me to get more stuff done! I then had to take Malia to the CDC so I could go to my therapy appointment alone this time since last week didn't work out so well. As I was leaving, this was on our doorstep: Liam's new tablet!
I dropped Malia off without any incidents! And then I went to my appointment. I brought several magazines so I didn't notice it was 17 minutes past my appointment- I texted my therapist but didn't hear back from her so after 40 minutes I left and went back to the library to kill time. She texted me and reminded me she told me last week she had to cancel today's appointment. Oops. So then I picked the kids up and we headed home. Liam was a little sluggish and fell asleep in the playroom. I woke him up to go to the gym but he was not excited about it- which was weird. I dropped both kids off in the kids club and went to my core class which I haven't been to in weeks! Zachary got to the gym a few minutes later and as I was setting up, I looked up at the window beside me and he was creepily staring at me trying to freak me out- we got a good laugh out of it. About ten minutes later, as I was doing some intense squats, I felt him staring at me again but this time it was because he needed the keys- Liam had thrown up in the kids club. So we headed home and boy was he in a mood. He was pushing, throwing, kicking, yelling- it was a rough evening. He did love the tablet though!

August 17 = Take Malia to Appointment Day
I had today so beautifully planned out. I was finally feeling better so I dropped Liam off at the CDC as I do every Monday and then Malia and I did a little shopping. I got Liam this really cool Mickey Mouse Busy Book- there's a story but in the back of the book there are 12 little figurines and a playmat with the clubhouse and different things he can recognize from the TV show. Then I was going to drop Malia off at the CDC at 1:00 so I could go to my therapy appointment at 1:30 by myself and have a little reading time before my therapist took me back. So I go inside to drop Malia off and she's turned one since the last time we were there so she was going to a new room. The receptionist asked if we had shoes for her- which I didn't- and so I was informed that the new room she's in requires the kids to wear shoes. So Malia came with me to my therapy appointment. I sent this picture to Zachary asking him to come over if he was able- the office is two minutes away from the Academy. He tried his best to get there in time but it wasn't meant to be.
Here's Liam playing with his new figurines and playmat!
And then it hit him. Now he's got whatever it is I had. Which means lots of snuggle time. I would never wish for my kids to be sick but if they have to be sick, I don't hate the snuggles are a side effect!

August 3 = Uncle Matt's Here Day!
Matt got into town yesterday evening so today was our first full day with him! He is such a great help when he's here. He went with us to Liam's appointments. Liam's PT appointment is an hour every six weeks for a reevaluation. However, I never realize it's going to be an extra long appointment until I notice he hasn't come out and it's five minutes past the hour. So we were there for an hour and a half today and Malia wasn't having it. It definitely took both me and Matt to keep her entertained!

July 16 = Malia's First Birthday!
My beautiful girl is one today! I got Liam up first so he could help me wish Malia a happy birthday but instead, he marched in and started yelling something. But I sang to her and we came down and had yummy funfetti birthday pancakes!
While she was still eating, I had to get some pictures of the birthday girl in front of her birthday banner!
At one point, she grabbed Zachary's hand and they started playing a game that only she knew the rules to.
Then we headed out to Liam's therapy appointments- it was so fun to have Zachary with us- Malia got to play with all sorts of toys and had so much fun!
Then we headed to Chick-fil-a of course.
When we got home it was nap time and Zachary had to head to work but my dad got to our house right after he left! We did some (more) last minute shopping for the party and picked up some donuts on the way home- Grammy and Gramps got classic cake donuts, I got a strawberry frosted glazed donut with sprinkles and we got munchkins for the kids! We all sang happy birthday with Matt and Grace on FaceTime...
.... and then it was time for baths and bed. This was a very exciting day but I think it'll hit me more that she's one when everyone celebrates together at her birthday party Saturday!

January 28 = Catch Up Day
Well... I haven't taken any pictures since the baby shower. Oops! But I do have some notes to share. I have this really awesome calendar- This one- so there's a column for each day and then rows for me and then 5 areas of my choosing. The top one I have dedicated to Liam/Malia. Malia doesn't have too much on her schedule at this point so they can share a row. Zachary gets the next row so I can keep up with his classes and meetings. Then I have a row for planning our meals and then another row is devoted to planning out exercise whether it be a time to aim for to go to the gym to do cardio and/or weights or when a yoga class is. I've been leaving the last row blank but decided this week that would be a good place to write down cute things Liam and Malia do or milestones they reach. Here's this week's pages so far:
I put everything in pencil because I am very aware that things change... pretty often. I'm tempted to start using colored pens so I can add some color to my life but... I like being able to erase and rewrite things so I'll probably stick to the pencil. So on Monday, Malia ate some scrambled eggs and Liam let me read him a whole book (This one) for the first time ever! Also, I have been working on getting him to clean up after himself. Believe me, it would be much quicker for me to put his things away but teaching him to clean up after himself teaches him a little bit of responsibility and also helps with our routine. So he will take out his blocks and pour them out on the floor but before he moves on to the next toy that he will undoubtedly just make a mess with, he has to put his blocks away. He's been doing a great job and I'm thinking it's starting to stick because we got home from the gym and he took his hat off while standing in the middle of the living room but walked to the closet where his hat goes and waited for me to open the closet door so he could put it away. Success!
Tuesday, Liam had speech at 10 am and one of his therapists from the county school system came at 2:00. His speech therapist excitedly told me that he has started saying a lot more two-word phrases which is the main thing we are concentrating on in speech and that one of them was "all done." We have a sign for all done but I've never heard him say it before so I told the therapist that came at 2:00 about it and she got him to say it! So now if we do the sign and say "Alllllll..." and wait for a second, he'll say "Done!" He also continued his new interest in books by bringing me a book, letting me read a page or two and then disappearing to bring me another book. He brought me four books total- I'm loving it! I also wrote down that Malia ate some ham! I wrote this down because it's fun to remember what foods she's been eating but it'll also help me in case of an allergic reaction which I hope she doesn't have.
Today was Liam's last day of preschool- his teachers don't know that yet because I'm going to let Zachary do the dirty work- he's going to go in Friday and talk to them. But I also wrote down that Malia ate some kiwi and Liam brought me books again today! I love that he makes me sit down and then gets in my lap before we can read- it's really the only time he shows me affection (unless his Daddy bribes him with food in exchange for giving mommy a hug or kiss) so it's now my new favorite thing to do!
So that's what's been happening- I hate that I have no pictures- I'll probably overcompensate these next few days!
