September 7 = Grocery Shopping Day

Well the title of today's blog post is misleading because I didn't actually go grocery shopping but Malia and I accompanied our friends, Amy and Evie, on their grocery shopping trip.  I met Amy at the gym and there wasn't enough time to go home before picking up Liam but it was too early to head to the school so we tagged along as she went to the commissary.  The girls enjoyed each others' company!

We picked Liam up from school and on our way in, I was cleaning out the car so the kids sat just like this while I did:

Also, saw this and laughed out loud:

School wears Liam out- here's his post-school nap:

So. Accurate.

August 5 = Harvest Day II

Look at my tomatoes!

We went to Liam's OT appointment today and Malia decided she didn't want to wear her shoes...

...so she took her shoes and socks off but look how she placed them so neatly!

Then she helped me with my word puzzles... by flipping back to the answer key.

Later in the day, Zachary got home but we didn't have anything to eat for dinner so Liam and I headed to the grocery store.  I decided to buy Zachary some beer so I took Liam in with me.  As we were checking out, Liam started saying he wanted a pretzel.  I assured him we would get pretzels at the grocery store and the guy ringing us up whips out this container with big pretzel rods in it.  Liam's been in this store with Zachary twice before and remembered they had pretzels- what a smart boy!  Then we got some groceries and as we were checking out, one of the grocers asked if Liam would like a lollipop to which he said "Yes, please."  Here he is with his free lollipop!

While we were gone, Zachary sent me these pictures:

And here's Liam being too cool for school:

January 31 = Family Day

Sundays are probably my favorite day- we usually try to do something outside of the house on Saturday but usually Sundays are low key days- especially during football season.  This morning, Grandma watched the kids while we went to the grocery store.  Such. A. Help.  We saw our old neighbors at the commissary with their two kids.  The dad questioned our decision to use time away from the kids to go to the grocery store but then he looked at the two carts they were having to push and his wife begging the baby to stop crying and I think he got it.  Here's Grandma and Liam while mom & dad were away:

Then we got some family pictures:

And Zachary started a new game with Malia.  He does the "I got your nose" game and she gets it back from him and returns it to its rightful place!

January 11 = Preschool Day One

Let me start with another Facebook meme that I think is hilarious:

And now I'll tell you about our day!  We started with our morning routine: getting dressed, eating breakfast, brushing teeth and cleaning up Liam's room.  Then we did our inaugural "circle time."  It's more like triangle time if all three parties are engaged... but just go with me on this.  So we updated the day of the week, the date, and discussed the weather.  Our theme this week is "All About Red" so we read a book about colors- I've put a hold on some better books at the library but they haven't come in yet so we will have to settle for a book we already had- and then sang a song to the tune of "If you're happy and you know it," telling him to put his finger on his head if his clothes have any red- which I strategically ensured.   Then we did our matching folder:

 Malia decided to help.

And then it was time to go to the grocery store.  I usually go to the commissary on Sundays but Zachary worked all weekend and he thought he'd be able to go on his way home yesterday but didn't get off in time so I headed to this cute grocery store down the street- it's so nice and clean- and it had this cool cart:

Well they look innocent there but boy, oh boy.  They wouldn't stop fighting each other.  Liam was honking Malia's horn and Malia slapped his hand away and told him, "NO!"  So I moved Malia to the normal baby spot on grocery carts and that worked well for a while.  And then Liam discovered he could get out of the car.  So I calmly buckled him in.  Then he discovered he could still stick his arm out of the side.  And by doing this, he could knock over a whole row of hairspray.  Like fifty bottles of hairspray.  Or like thirty cans of Campbell's soup- ya know, whatever was in his reach.  So that was fun.  We checked out and I renewed my vow of never going grocery shopping with the two of them alone ever again.

Then it was lunch time!  Since both of them do so well eating at a little table at the CDC I decided to try it out at home:

They did great!  Then it was nap time and then I had to go to the pharmacy to pick up Malia's seizure medicine (her neurologist called me on his cell phone and had a conversation with me about her care instead of making me go all the way to the Bethesda) so that threw off my plans for the rest of the day but here's a picture of Malia after throwing her dinner on the floor:

August 21 = Stylish Grocery Shopping Day

I got this really cute outfit for Malia yesterday- the skirt is a little big but the shirt says "Shine like a Star" and I just think it's too cute.

January 31 = I'm Running out of Names Day

We had a pretty normal day today- We went to the grocery store, chick-fil-a, Malia & Liam had naps and I got a lot of organizing done.  Marley and Joey enjoyed Malia's pack 'n' play for one of the last times- since Malia's sleeping in her crib pretty regularly, we're looking forward to getting it out of our bedroom so our room is back to being our room- not Malia's room- even though I must say I miss her sometimes in the middle of the night.
