August 14 = Malia (L) Comes to Visit Day

First- I just love how attentive Liam and Malia are towards Kayleigh- it's so precious.

But the most exciting thing that happened today was my friend, Malia Losordo, came to visit us today!  She lives in Oregon but was on the east coast for a wedding and was close enough to drive to come see us!

While we were chatting and catching up, Liam went upstairs.  You would think after the hair cut fiasco, I would be a little more vigilant but I did make sure the doors that could be locked were locked and I set him up on my bed watching TV.  He was quiet- too quiet- and when I went to get him after Malia and her new husband, Gordon, left, this is what I found:

Then I read this- and it reminded me so much of Malia:

And then before I could get too emotional about how sweet that was, I saw this, and that balanced me out :)

Later, Gordon sent me this picture I had asked him to take.  When they got to our house, the kids ran out to greet Malia and Gordon and Liam proceeded to run to the playground.  Gordon was so so good with him and chased after him so Malia and I leisurely walked along with little Malia as she picked flowers.  Her new flower picking habit reminded me of my friend Malia- they're both little nature babies and I love that so much about both of them- so when Gordon and Liam returned, I asked him to snap a picture of these two doing what they love.  Thankfully he remembered to send it!

August 5 = Harvest Day II

Look at my tomatoes!

We went to Liam's OT appointment today and Malia decided she didn't want to wear her shoes...

...so she took her shoes and socks off but look how she placed them so neatly!

Then she helped me with my word puzzles... by flipping back to the answer key.

Later in the day, Zachary got home but we didn't have anything to eat for dinner so Liam and I headed to the grocery store.  I decided to buy Zachary some beer so I took Liam in with me.  As we were checking out, Liam started saying he wanted a pretzel.  I assured him we would get pretzels at the grocery store and the guy ringing us up whips out this container with big pretzel rods in it.  Liam's been in this store with Zachary twice before and remembered they had pretzels- what a smart boy!  Then we got some groceries and as we were checking out, one of the grocers asked if Liam would like a lollipop to which he said "Yes, please."  Here he is with his free lollipop!

While we were gone, Zachary sent me these pictures:

And here's Liam being too cool for school:

June 9 = Hit the Road Day

We are heading to North Carolina today!  I got Zachary this calendar with leadership quotes on it for Christmas because as a company officer at the Naval Academy- he's a leader and he's leading future leaders!  This was today's quote- it's not looking good for our ride.

Here's Liam licking out the cheese from a pretzel/cheese snack...

I just loved how Malia had her little feet crossed- such a little lady!

August 6 = Big TV Night

Malia was eating her snack and I just thought she looked so cute so I had to take a picture- her shirt says "Hello Sunshine" and how appropriate is that?

Then I wanted to show Matt something Liam did the other night- I wanted to see if he'd do it again, and sure enough he did.  Last Thursday in yoga, one of my two favorite instructors, Jenn, had us practice headstands and gave me some cues no other teacher has so I decided to practice at home the next night.  I was trying my new tips in the playroom while the kids were playing- I thought they'd be distracted but it was the funniest thing to them.  Liam came up to me and started kissing all over my face.  It was so funny and I have no idea what made him do that but sure enough, he did it again today.  Now I know how to get a kiss- just stand on my head!

Then I asked Matt to get a picture of me and the babies- I'd been wanting him to get a picture of us with Zachary but we kept forgetting.

Matt left us right after lunch but Zachary got home soon after and we headed to the Academy to watch some of his plebes in a wrestling event.

Zachary sold me on going by telling me the place would be huge with not too many people but it would be loud and there would be stairs.

On the way home we saw two deer- one was a baby- so pretty!

So we did our nighttime routine- baths, stories, everything- and then it was time to watch some tv.  Tonight was a big night in the television world.  There was the Republican debate and it was Jon Stewart's last episode as the host of The Daily Show.  We found a drinking game for watching the Republican debate which was the only way I was going to make it through.

Surprisingly, we didn't get to drink that much- they weren't as predictable as Rolling Stone thought they'd be.  We made it through half and then decided to watch Big Brother which, when it was over, it was perfect timing for me to watch The Daily Show live- which I haven't done since high school- thanks DVR!  But I thought it was appropriate to watch this one live- I've been watching the show for so long (10 years) but not as long as he's been on (almost 17 years).
