In my last post I shared a picture with a quote that made me think of Malia... today's is one for adults.
I've had this exact thought before when I make the kids a beautiful plate for breakfast with strawberries, blueberries, cheese, oranges, bananas... and then I grab a pack of crackers on the way out. This was a good reminder that I need to take care of myself too in order to take the best care of my babies.
So yesterday I worked on my yoga teacher training. I'm doing a "distance learning" program so that, unlike last time I attempted this, I don't have to devote a full weekend each month- it's just not realistic for us. So Zachary took the kids to the gym so that I would be able to concentrate. On the way out, he learned how unmanageable they can be when you're by yourself. So he did something super smart- told them they had to hold hands. And they did! He took a video of it and showed me because he knew I'd have to see it to believe it. But today I snapped this picture of my three loves holding hands- how sweet!
Later, we had some senior midshipmen over for dinner- lasagna. We played Apples to Apples which made me really happy. It was really fun- the kids were great- the midshipmen are so good with them. It was a great day!

October 4 = Midshipmen Dinner #2
I slept in this morning- woohoo! While I was down, Zachary did some rearranging and moved the bed Liam never uses down from his room to the playroom- Malia was a fan.
But then it was time for work! We had lots of midshipmen coming over again and lasagna was on the menu tonight. We made five lasagnas and it was a pretty good amount for some hungry "kids." I don't feel quite qualified to call them kids but whatever.
Again, Malia worked her way into getting some attention. She brought the Mickey Mouse tin that holds all the little characters Liam got in his birthday present from Uncle Matt & Grace and the guys helped her open it and encouraged her as she took them all out and put them all back in and closed it for her and repeated this several times until she was bored of it and found something else to do. Sass.

September 13 = Messy Dinner Day
Zachary went to Allentown, PA for a marathon this weekend. The kids missed him- as soon as he got home they made it known!
She loves her baby doll:
We had lasagna. And by we had lasagna I mean Zachary, Liam and I had lasagna and Malia destroyed her lasagna and everything around along with it.

July 25 = Sweetest Brother Day
First of all I would just like to share how blessed I am to see this beautiful face every morning and the handsome face of my son- his is not always as cheery as Malia's but he's still handsome.
And second I would like to share how blessed I am that my children love each other and that they, at their core, are so very loving and sweet. It's hard to hear, but Liam is blowing kisses and after every kiss says "Lala" which is his name for Malia. It was so very precious and warmed my heart to no end.
After he finished blowing his kisses, he did something he's been doing a lot lately- he walked away and said "Bye guys." He's been doing that a lot lately and it's so funny.
Also, we had leftover lasagna for lunch. Malia enjoyed it.

July 22 = Visit Daddy Day
Today we traveled to a school in Glen Burnie to have an evaluation for Liam entering the three year old program through the school system. Right before I left, I opened my phone to start my music in the car and the facebook app was up from the last time I was on my phone- this quote was at the top.
I have a pretty good attitude about Liam's strong will- I've always been aware that it is something that will be beneficial for him in the future as my strong will has done a lot of good for me too. But this quote helped reiterate that for me and added another level to my understanding of parenting a (very) strong willed child.
After his appointment, I laid the kids down for naps and I made a lasagna. I haven't made lasagna in years but when my mom was here, she wanted to make one so I got all the ingredients but we never got around to it. So instead of eating it at home with the kids and bringing Zachary leftovers, I just brought the whole thing with plates and utensils and we ate together outside on the water.
