October 5 = Epic Mess Day

I went downstairs and folded a little bit of laundry while Liam was watching Mickey Mouse.  Well while I thought he was watching Mickey Mouse.  I noticed I heard some suspicious sounds so I abandoned the warm, clean clothes that I knew would be wrinkled by the time I found another five minutes to fold them, and headed upstairs.  And found this.

We had lots of fun cleaning this up as a family... I hope you can sense the sarcasm.  Liam tried to weasel himself out of it at first but eventually he gave up and begrudgingly helped clean up.

October 4 = Midshipmen Dinner #2

I slept in this morning- woohoo!  While I was down, Zachary did some rearranging and moved the bed Liam never uses down from his room to the playroom- Malia was a fan.

But then it was time for work!  We had lots of midshipmen coming over again and lasagna was on the menu tonight.  We made five lasagnas and it was a pretty good amount for some hungry "kids."  I don't feel quite qualified to call them kids but whatever.

Again, Malia worked her way into getting some attention.  She brought the Mickey Mouse tin that holds all the little characters Liam got in his birthday present from Uncle Matt & Grace and the guys helped her open it and encouraged her as she took them all out and put them all back in and closed it for her and repeated this several times until she was bored of it and found something else to do.  Sass.

October 3 = Tattoo Day

So Liam has been in a terrible mood for... a while now.  My wonderful mother-in-law sensed that I needed a break like nobody's business so she offered to come up and watch the kids so that Zachary and I could get away.  We were planning on going to the Navy football game but it was raining so we had breakfast at my favorite, favorite place, The Breakfast Shoppe, where I had a delicious ham, sausage, bacon and cheddar omelet.  And then Zachary had to do some stuff at work but I got to take a nap.  And then we did some shopping and went to dinner and then... Zachary got a tattoo!  This was the before picture... probably would have been better with short sleeves but it was cold!

And the after!

These are the Gaelic astrological signs for me, Liam and Malia- Zachary read that it is common for family members' signs to be joined by the one long center line consistent in each one so that's what he did!  He says it's like carrying his family with him which will be even more significant when we go back on sea duty and he has to leave us from time to time.

October 2 = Talk Back Day

Well I've officially been talked back to.  I told Liam it was time to get a diaper and he said no.  Common.  I don't consider that back talk... yet.  So I was playing the game with him- yes it is, no.  Yes Liam.  No!  Uhmmmmmm Yes!  And he replied with "Uhmmmmmmmmm no."  On the one hand I was very proud of him for doing such a great job imitating the sound I made but on the other... that boy's got an attitude on him.

Also, yesterday was a year from the day Malia had her seizures.  It's so interesting because at this point with Liam we were starting to discuss taking him off his anti-seizure medication but with Malia, she's already weaned off and has been for a while now!

Also, we've thrown away the bottles.  My favorite story to tell about our pediatrician, Dr. Modi, is the first time we met him, he asked Liam if he knew why he was still drinking out of a bottle and he said, "because mommy and daddy let you."  His advice was to throw away all the bottles and make his only option a sippy cup.  We didn't throw them away because I was seven months pregnant at the time but we did hide them and that was the only way we got him off the bottle.  I tried to introduce sippy cups to Malia more gradually, starting at 6 months but she wasn't ever a fan.  Now that she's well over one, we decided it's time to lay down the law.  This time we did get to throw them away because there is no baby in the near future.

Also, Liam is developing some skills of his own!  He's learning to undress himself- he didn't get the snap undone but he did some good work with the zipper.

October 1 = New Jacket Day

It's getting colder so it's finally time to wear some jackets!  I love jacket wearing weather and can you get any cuter than this:

September 29 = Liam's Turn Day

So the shaving cream wasn't a hit with Liam but he loved playing with pasta/bean mixture!  He used his hands and a measuring cup.  He put them in a bag, poured them out of the bag, put them back in, had a heck of a time!

September 26 = Shaving Cream Day

Oh man it's been a long time since I've blogged- oops!  I've successfully transitioned Liam out of Cypress Creek so we've got some more time on our hands.  Which means I've got a lot more entertaining to do.  I looked on pinterest and sensory bins kept popping up.  So I did a little shopping and got some popular sensory bin items.  I'm planning on organizing them later but I thought we'd start with letting the kids play with shaving cream.  I can vividly remember being in third grade and my teacher, Ms. Quinn, letting us clean our desks with shaving cream and I loved it!  I was thinking my kids might like it.  Liam hated it.  Malia loved it.
