Zachary's on duty today. He was supposed to leave on Friday for a month and then it got pushed to Saturday and then it got pushed to Tuesday. He has duty today (Sunday) but we got a bonus Saturday with him and we'll see him tomorrow night before he heads out. I'm a bit nervous about this underway because it's been a while since I've been alone with the kids for this long- and let's just say I think it would be easier if school were back in session... I'd have just Kayleigh from 7:30-2:30 and we'd have a much more established routine buttttttttt alas we have two weeks left of summer. So I'm going to focus on enjoying this time with my soon to be first grader and kindergartener!
Here is the one picture I've taken today:
I slept in a little this morning and when I finally emerged, the kids were giving their stuffed animals a concert with Liam's new microphone stand he got in his little pre-birthday party last night... that post coming soon. I have a new strategy with the blog... I'm going to focus on the present and then do extra from the big gaping hole between this one and the previous one. It's hard to see in this picture but each stuffed animal had it's own bow placed perfectly in her hair- except the elephant who had one on it's tail.

September 10 = Watch Football All Day, Day
It's the first Sunday of the NFL season so I'll let you guess what we were up to...
Kayleigh did a lot of sleeping...
As did Rosie...
Here's another picture that sums up our life pretty well:
Also the Jaguars won today which is reallyyyyyyy weird.

September 24 = Couch Nap Day
I don't know how Zachary survives. He often goes to sleep at the same time as I do if not after and then wakes up at least an hour and a half before me and I regularly take naps. Sometimes, he takes couch naps in the afternoons. Somehow. With two crazy kids running around, I don't know how he sleeps through all the noise but I guess he's just that tired.
So my kid isn't even in school yet and I'm already running out of space to put artwork so I did something I've read about- take pictures of the art work and then you can *gasp* throw the actual artwork away. So here we go:
Also saw these on facebook and loved them:

July 22 = Mommy/Son Day
Here's Liam waking Malia up.
We took Malia to the CDC today so that I could take Liam by himself to his OT appointment. I got to read the whole time- it was amazing. And after his appointment, we still had a bit of time before we needed to go pick up Malia so I took Liam to lunch at The Main Ingredient. We had such a good time together. He was being so funny and sweet!
My favorite part was when he was playing hide and seek behind the sugar packets. Such a silly, sweet boy.
Later that afternoon, after we picked Malia up, we headed to Amy's house for a playdate. Amy and Evie missed Malia's birthday party but got her a present anyway- a tea set! Here's Malia in Amy's husband, Will's, shoes...
And here she is at home, playing with her tea set!
Also, I got this picture and it's now my background on my phone- she's too cute.

June 1 = Yogurt Day
The kids ate yogurt for breakfast by themselves this morning- they love it so much!
We have had to really think hard about how to arrange Liam's room because this boy will not sleep at night. While I was in NC a couple weekends ago, Zachary was rearranging the house and the desk broke while he was trying to move it. So we put part of it in Liam's room to organize some of his toys. Well we decided to move everything out of his room so his room is only for sleeping and when I went to move the desk part in his room I discovered he's been getting in the drawer...
After I moved some stuff around I took them out in our backyard to try to wear them out- trying everything I can to get him to sleep!
This picture reminds me so much of another picture that I'll put below it:
Oh and by the way- Dominos sells a Smores Cookie. It's delicious.
Night one of no toys and lots of outside time was successful!

December 21 = Mickey Mouse Day
I had to get out of the house today! My dad had to go back to work and my mom had an appointment so Matt and I got the kids ready and headed to Wal-mart. We don't have a wal-mart around our house and I'm not too upset about it but it was somewhere to go today so we went. And I found this:
Liam likes him but Malia's in love.
Later, Gramps continued his job of making sure the kids eat plenty.
Malia hung out with Mickey pretty much all day. Daisy joined in.
Again, as I mentioned a few days ago, I'm not going to rant about how little my children sleep when they're not home but when he finally went to sleep and little Miss Daisy snuggled up to him, I had to capture it.

August 18 = Appropriate Facebook Post Day
So most mornings, if I wake up before the kids, I scroll through facebook really quickly just to see what's going on in the world. I am aware that facebook is not necessarily the news but I "like" several news sources which all post important updates so I get to see friends' updates and actual news stories at the same time! Anyway- I saw this post and it could not have been seen at a more appropriate time.
Last night, we headed to bed around 11:30. We watched some Jimmy Fallon and turned off the television. Seconds after we turned it off, Malia started hollering. I went in to check on her and she was fine. I turned off the light. Screams. I decided to let her cry it out. I go back in our room and Zachary looks at me with the most tired look you can imagine and just said "I have to get sleep tonight." Also, Liam is sleeping in the room next to her and is still not feeling well so I decided it's for the greater good of the family if I make her happy. I rocked her, read to her, sang to her- tried everything- she was fine if I was with her but if I thought about leaving, she could sense it and I could tell this wasn't going to work in my (or anyone else's favor), so we headed down to the playroom where the mattress my brother slept on a few weeks ago is still conveniently out. I tried to get her to lay on the mattress in the dark with me but that wasn't going to happen so after about thirty minutes of trying, I gave in and let her play around. I turned on the tv and watched an episode of my soap opera- The Young and the Restless. When the episode was over I grew determined to make this girl go to sleep as it was 2:30 in the morning. I have no idea how long it took- hours for sure- but eventually, she went to sleep. Not long after, Zachary came downstairs to leave so I took her upstairs and she thankfully went back to sleep. So when I read this a few hours later it made me laugh. And yawn.

May 31 = Travel Home Day
Our last day in NC for the weekend! We try to schedule a visit with Aunt Mary when we are in Graham so Zachary called and worked it out to where we could see her at Hebron- she and her mom were keeping nursery so we brought Liam and Malia to nursery and they got to spend time with their great aunt and great grandmother! Before we left though I got my dad to get a picture of us with Uncle Matt.
Here's Liam behaving so well, sitting at the table, eating his snack.
We came home, ate some leftovers for lunch and then headed out. Three of us were very tired:
Liam and Malia were extra sleepy:
When we got home, I rushed to the window to see how my plants were doing- very exciting!

May 6 = Adorable Sleeping Baby Day
I came in this morning and found Malia like this and had to get a picture. She's holding her "elephant friend" as I call it and she's got her paci. I just love these pajamas- purple shorts and a shirt that I wish you could see- it says "I Work Out" in big letters and then below that in smaller letters it says "Just Kidding- I take Naps."
Later Zachary gave me an early Mother's Day gift because we can't wait until actual holidays to exchange gifts.

February 16 = 7 Months Day
Here's our little princess taking up a queen sized bed. Usually Malia is my alarm clock. I'll go get her and feed her while I pump and usually, before I'm done pumping, she starts her morning nap. That's what happened here- then I have to choose between waking her by moving her to a safer spot or staying by her side until Liam wakes up. I usually take advantage of some snuggle time until Mr. Liam wakes up and then we officially start our morning.
In other news, Malia Mae is 7 months old today! Our pretty girl has started blowing raspberries as a greeting, is still a wonderful sleeper and an expert snuggler. She's apparently working on joining me for yoga soon as she held plank yesterday for a good while. She continues to be such a joy to everyone around her and a monthly update wouldn't be complete without me commenting on her beautiful blue eyes- they are so bright and expressive. She is just so precious and we love her so very much!

December 19 = Nap on the Floor Day
Liam is on the go all the time. Yes. All toddlers like to move and are very often on the go. However. Liam. Does. Not. Sit. Still. Ever. Except for today. He didn't get a nap in the middle of the day so he passed out around 6:30. I tried to wake him up to move him to his crib but he did not appreciate it and went back to sleep. He stayed here for about an hour and a half.
Then he moved his feet, just like he does in his crib every night, to get more comfortable.
Then he woke up and realized the floor wasn't the most comfortable place in the room to be.
In the meantime, Malia decided to, instead of resting, work on sitting up in her rock 'n' play. She's growing up so fast!
